From the Arab Spring to the Women, Life, Freedom movement in Iran, social media has become the new frontline of collective emotion. Outrage spreads in seconds. Hashtags build unity. But silence, too, can be engineered, one shutdown, one algorithmic tweak, one wave of fatigue.
